Growing To Maturity
Maturity is something we all strive for. The
new testament word for maturity suggests
reaching for the finish line, completing the
task. We should mature as individuals,
growing to become the kind of people,
who are exemplary and productive. Our goal
should be that we become a people that,
honor means more than riches and fame. As
Christians we should strive to reach man
& god. That being mature is not how
popular you are or how pretty you are,
but it is how pleasing you are to your
parents and how important God is in all
of your lives. Maturity means growing
toward the "high marks," to work toward
the goal that we have set for our lives.
" To reach maturity we must set goals in our
lives, we can't just drift and whatever
happens, happens" When we have determined
what our goal is then to reach it, we
have to give it all we have to make it
happen. We are going to look in the Word
of God to see how we reach the maturity
we desire in lives.

Psalm 32:8
The Lord says, "I will guide you along the
best pathway for your life. I will advise
you and watch over you.

Psalm 92:12
But the Godly will flourish like palm trees
and grow strong like cedars of Lebanon.

Psalm 111:10
Reverence for the Lord is the foundation of
true wisdom. The rewards of wisdom come to
all who obey him.
Jeremiah 17:7-8
But blessed are those who trust in the Lord
and have made their hope and confidence. They
are like a trees planted along a river banks,
with roots that reach deep in to the water.
Such trees are not bothered by heat Or
worried by long months of drought. Their
leaves stay green, and they go right on
producing delicious fruit.

As we see in these scriptures. We find that
there are certain step we have to take in
order to gain Christian maturity. We have to
be confident that God will bless our lives
as we learn maturity by studying the Word.
If we will invest our lives in our relationship
he promises that we will be like a tree
planted by the river with deep roots. He
will be our mentor along the way, He will
impart to us true wisdom, wisdom that doesn't
come from the world, but wisdom that come from
the very throne of God. When we are rooted and
grounded in maturity that come from God we
cannot be blown away by every wind that
blows our way. Praise God!!

Philippians 1:6
And I am sure that God, who began the
good work within you, will continue his
work within you, will continue his work
until it is finally finished on that day
when Christ Jesus comes back again.

James 1:5
If you need wisdom, if you want to know
what God wants you to do, ask him, and he
will not resent your asking.

Ephesians 3:17
And I pray that Christ will be more and more
at home in your hearts as you trust in him.
May your roots go down deep into the soil of
God's marvelous love.

Colossians 2:7
Let your roots grow down into him and draw
up nourishment from him, so you will grow
In faith, strong and vigorous in the truth
you were taught. Let your lives overflow
with thanksgiving for all he has done.

2nd.Peter 3:18
But grow in the special favor and knowledge
of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. To him
be all glory and honor both now and
forever more. Amen

Jude 1:20
But you, dear friends, must continue to
build your lives on the foundation of
your holy faith. And continue to pray
as you directed by the Holy Spirit.

As we see there are many scriptures that speak
to us in regards to how we can reach the
maturity in our lives that God desires for us.
The word tells us that He has started a good
work in us and He will continue His work until
it is finished. If we will seek Him ,He will
give us wisdom, As we trust Him more and
more He will make His home in our hearts.
Our roots will grow and our faith will grow
daily as we feed on His Word. We must continue
to build our lives on the foundation of faith.
Their are no short cuts to being mature in the
things of God. Maturity has to be a burning desire
in order to reach the level that God has for us,

1st.Crinthians 3:1-3
Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with
you I couldn't talk to you as I would to
mature Christians. I had to talk as though
you belonged to this world or as though you
were infants in the Christian life. I had
to feed you with milk and not with solid
food, because you couldn't handle anything
stronger. And you still aren't ready, For
you are still controlled by your own sinful
desires, You are jealous of one another and
quarrel with each other. Doesn't that prove
you are controlled by your own desires. You
are acting like people who don't belong to
the Lord.

1st.Conrinthians 13:11
It's like this: When I was a child, I
spoke and thought and reasoned as a
child does. But when I grew up, I put
away childish things.

Hebrews 6:1
So let us stop going over the basics of
Christianity again and again. Let us go
instead and become mature in our under-
standing. Surely we don't need to start
all over again with the importance of
turning away from evil deeds and placing
our faith in God.

Spiritual growth is like physical growth,
We have to start small like a child learning
to walk, we grow stronger day by day as we
study. As we grow we can begin digest meat
of the word instead of being on the milk
as a baby, that is all right at first but
if we continue in that state of our Christian
we will either fall away from the faith or we
will live our live in a defeated state, never
able to overcome the thing of the world. We
will neither in or out, that my friend is
know as a miserable way of life.

1st.Corinthians 9:24-27
Remember that in a race everyone runs. but
only one person gets the prize. You also
must run in such a way that you will win.
All athletes practice strict self-control.
They do it to win a prize that will fade
away. But we do it for an eternal prize.
So I run straight to the goal with purpose
in every step. I am not like a boxer who
misses his punches. I discipline my body
like an athlete, training is to do what
it should. Otherwise, I fear that after
preaching to others I myself might be
disqualified.

We see here in the Word that Paul is telling
us, that in order for us to reach maturity
we must be willing to discipline ourselves
as an athlete does. We have to develop strict
self-control, we will not excel unless we
are willing to study, seek, desire more than
anything to come to maturity. God is calling
us to be as an oak tree, that has roots go so
deep that we will not fall. Like Paul we must
live what we preach, we have to walk the walk
not just talk the talk. If we don't not only
will we be disqualified and we will more than
likely take cause other to be disqualified also.

2ndTimothy 2:1-2
Timothy, my dear son, be strong with the Special
favor God gives you in Christ Jesus. You have
heard me teach many things that have been
confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Teach
these great truths to trustworthy people
who are able to pass them on to others.

The purpose of us striving toward maturity is
not only for our own good, but in order to teach
and bring others to maturity we have to be mature
Christians ourselves. We are to be an example to
babes in Christ, we should pass our faith to
others. If we are not rooted and grounded
in the word of God we will not be the light
house, God called us to be and that takes
maturity. Becoming mature in the thing of God
is not a if we want to, it is a matter of
spiritual life.

Isaiah59:2
But there is a problem, your sins have
Cut you off from God. Because of your sin,
He has turned away and will not listen
anymore.

2nd.Timothy 2:4
And as Christ's soldiers, do not let your-
self become tied up in the affairs of this
life, for then you cannot satisfy the one who
has enlisted you in his army.
As we see here when we reach for maturity
there are going to be many roadblocks, satan
is going to do everything in his power to keep
us immature Christians. He wants to keep us
sinning and of no account to kingdom of God.
We can not continue to live & do the things
the thing that we did. Getting involved in
the thing of the world, even if they are
good & noble things can be snares to keep
us from getting to our destination. With
God's help we can come to maturity in the
thing of God. One thing we have to remember
is that there is no end to the maturity
process, we will be in the maturing process
until Jesus takes us to our heavenly home.
Glory!

Lord Jesus, thank you for your Word, thank You
for your love and your promises. Lord us to
be what you want us to be as your children.
Give us a burning desire to seek after every
thing that will cause us to become a mature
people, to be an example to others. Lord
don't let us be guilty of causing someone
to fall, because we peach the Word, but don't
live the Word. Lord let everything we do be
pleasing in your sight, give us a fresh
anointing, renew our spirit, give us the
desire to do whatever it takes Lord to bring
us to the mark. Lord give us the grit that
it is going to finish the race.
In Jesus name I pray.
Amen & Amen.
