True Humility

We are going to talk about humility, have you noticed,
that the word humility, along with words like kindness,
right, wrong, faithfulness and ect. Is words that are not
not heard, are shown much in our world anymore. We
have to realize that humility is not effacing ones self.
It is not destroying one's sense of self worth. Humility
is an honest recognition of our own worth. Our worth
is as God sees us. If we are full of pride we are
elevating ourselves above others, and often above
God Himself. We have to be careful, there is a
fine line between self worth and being full of pride.
You see if we destroy our sense of self-worth
that is also unacceptable. When we do that, it
denies the value that God placed upon us when
he created us, in His image and when He sent His
son to die for us. Christ did not die for worms,
but for people he loves very much, and we have
great worth, we are valuable in God's eyes. To
see ourselves as God sees us. Our goal has to be,
to learn to balance humility, self-worth and pride.

Matthew 18-4
Therefore , anyone who becomes as humble as this little
Child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.

James 4:6
He gives us more and more strength to stand
against such evil desires. As the scripture say,
"God sets himself against the proud, but he
shows favor to the humble."

1stPeter 5:5-6
You younger men, accept the authority of
the elders. And all of you, serve each other
in humility ,for "God sets himself"
against the proud, but he shows favor
to the humble." So humble yourselves under the
mighty power of God, and in his good time he
will honor you.

When we listen to most people talk these days,
you could come to believe to be humble or
show humility, means that anyone of this ilk is
weak and spineless, but as we see in the above
scriptures to be humble and show humility is
true strength, for it reaches into the kingdom
of heaven. When we are full of pride we are
playing right into the devils hands, pride makes
us weak and it reaches no further than our own
ego. So therefore, we become a tool for the
devil to use.

2nd Kings 5:13-15
But his officers tried to reason with him and
said, "Sir, if the prophet had told you to do some
great thing, wouldn't you have done it? So you
should certainly obey him when he says simply to
go and wash and be cured!" So Naaman went down
to the Jordan River and dipped himself seven times,
as the man of God had instructed him. And the flesh
became healthy as a young child's, and he was healed!
Then Naaman and his entire party went back to find
the man of God. They stood before him, and Naaman
Said, "I know at last that there is no God in all the
world except in Israel. Now please accepts my gifts."

The above scriptures speak to anyone that refuses
or can't seem to turn loose of the pride ,that keeps
us from showing humility, we must realize until we can
turn loose of the false pride, we have, we will never be
whole. Because humility is the first step to wholeness.
God knows that pride is not and easy thing.
to give up He also knows that pride will be
our down fall, as it was satan's.
But if we will come to God with a sincere heart, he
will take the false pride we carry and replace it
with a heart of humility. True humility comes only
from God and God alone.

2nd Chronicles 33:1-13
Manssseh was twelve years old when he became
King and he resigned in Jerusalem fifty-five
years. He did what was evil in the Lord's sight,
imitating the detestable practices of the pagan
nations whom the Lord had driven from the land
ahead of the Israelites .He rebuilt the pagan shrines
his father Hezekiah had destroyed. He constructed
altars for the images of Baal and set up Asherah
poles. He also bowed before all the stars of heaven
in both courtyards of the Lord's Temple. Manasseh
even sacrificed his own sons in the fire, in the valley
of the son of Hinnom. He practiced s sorcery,
divination, and witchcraft, and he consulted with
mediums and psychics. He did much that was evil
in the Lord's sight, arousing His anger.
Manasseh even took a carved idol ha had made
and set it up in God's temple, the very place were
God had told David and his son Solomon: "My name
will be honored here forever in this Temple and in
Jerusalem- the city I have chosen from among all
the other tribes of Israel. If the Israelites will obey
my commands -all the instruction, laws, and
regulations given through Moses-I will not sent them
into exile from this land that I gave their ancestors."
But Manasseh led the people of Judah and Jerusalem
to do even more evil than the pagan nations whom
the Lord had destroyed when the Israelites entered
the land. The Lord spoke to Manasseh and his people
but they ignored all his warnings. So the Lord sent
the Assyrian armies, and took Manasseh prisoner.
They put a ring through his nose, bound him in
bronze chains led him away to Babylon. But while
in deep distress, Manasseh sought the Lord His God
and cried out humbly to the God of his ancestors.
And when he prayed, the Lord listened to him and
was moved by his request for help. So the Lord let
Manasseh return to Jerusalem and to his kingdom.
Manasseh had finally realized that the Lord alone
Is God!

As we see here Manasseh was one of the most wicked
and evil kings ever to rule in Judah. He encouraged
his own people to practice evil, until God would have
no more of it .They were in a time in their lives when
time were good and everyone was prospering.
Unfortunately when we as a people and a country
prosper and all is well, we have a tendency to fall
into pride, thinking we have achieved it all, without
any help from God. But when we as a country or as a
person find ourselves loaded down with debt, lose
a loved one, or have illness to hit us, ect. We
suddenly find it necessary to seek the Lord.
All of a sudden pride isn't as big of a deal to us
anymore. Praise God let the healing begin as we
seek humility.

Proverbs 18:12
Haughtiness goes before destruction: humility
precedes honor.

The word haughty has many definitions, such as
disdainful, proud, insolent, lordly, overbearing,
arrogant all these word describe haughty, I don't
about any of you, but I can relate to this attitude
when I was in the world, that is the attitude of the
world and we a product of the devil. God's tell us
here that all haughtiness bring us nothing but
destruction, but humility precedes honor. There
is much haughtiness in our churches today, pride
and egos are splitting up churches, also false pride
is causing the same problems. Some how we have
been unable to separate the difference between
self-esteem, self-worth and humility from
haughtiness ego and pride and until we can we will
never find the wholeness that the Word of God
speaks of.

Matthew 6:1
"Take care! Don't do your good deeds publicly,
to be admired, because then you will lose the
reward from your Father in heaven.

Acts 20:19
I have done the Lord's work humbly- yes and
with tears. I have endured the trials that came
to me from the plots of the Jews.

Paul is telling us here that it would be easy to
do the Lord's work with pride. After all, doing the
Lord's work is the most wonderful work in all
the world, but he also recognized that doing God's
work is serving, which takes humility. Those who
are proud are not good at serving and when they
do it is to curry attention and recognized and
praised. The sad part is that sometimes we may
have all been guilty of this and yet we can't or won't
admit it as pride, God help and forgive us. We
have to make sure that when we do God's work it
is with pure motives and humility.

Ephesians 4:2
Be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other,
making allowance for each other's faults because
of your love.

Matthew 7:3
And why worry about a speck in your friends
eye when you have a log in your own?

This one scripture lets us know where we are or
where we aren't, as far as being humble.
When we are really walking in humility, our
relationships with others changes, and we
overlook the faults of others because we can
see our own faults vividly. If we are always finding
fault with everyone and everything around us, its
time we go back to the above scripture and see
ourselves as God's sees us. God tells us that
humility is the path to greatness and His promise
to us is that He will bless the humble. I don't know
about others I still have a ways to go, but I claim the
promises and will continue to make greatness of
humility my goal. As a Christians we can do nothing
less if we want to fulfill the role that God has for us.

Dear Lord Jesus thank you for your love,
your sacrifice for us. Lord, thank you
that you did not leave us comfortless
thank you that that we don't have to walk
the Christian walk blindly, thank you that
you gave your Word as our map of life.
Help us Lord to be pleasing to you and
put on the cloak of true humility not
not false humility filled with selfish pride.
Thank you Lord that you are taking us from
glory to glory as we seek you in all that
we do. In Jesus name I pray.
Amen & Amen.
